The End to a Hidden Gem?

 White Knight Chronicles Knight

Sony recently announced they will be shutting down USA/EU White Knight Chronicles 1 and 2 servers around June 18th 2013. After a lot of promising of bringing over the Japanese Downloadable Content for the game that went through, White Knight fans were beginning to become fed up with the producers of the game. Their answers after numerous attempts to petetion to receive the add-on content for the game was the last thing they expected, the game they loved and spent countless hours on is soon going away. If the servers do go down, it would have giving USA players less than 2 years of time to spend on the game’s online features.

There has yet to be a reason given why the servers’ plugs are being pulled, one can be hopeful and hope that it is for a new game coming up but only time will tell. What we do know is that Sony seems serious about the topic, although refusing to answer the communities questions as to why and how they came to the decision of cutting the games online support.

For those who are not sure how important the servers were to White Knight Chronicles fans, here is a little bit of information for you. In each title your main character is an avatar created by you, their name to the way they look. After progressing into the story a bit a new option becomes available called “Geonet”. From the Geonet log in screen, players can join user created towns called “Georamas”.  Georamas are given different states based on what kind of harvestable are available, making almost everyone’s town a bit different from the next one. These Georamas can hold up to 16 people in the lobby, where players can create quests and form parties to overcome their foes.

We here at TRG are sad to see a hidden gem finally come to the end of its life cycle. Hopefully Sony has big plans for the server space added when the plug is pulled. Stay tune for updates, we have eyes and ears looking out for this topic!
